New Modules

Syndicate content
Contributed modules are add-ons for Drupal, allowing you to extend, build, and customize Drupal’s core functionality. The modules you require are dependent on the version of Drupal you have downloaded. The modules are not part of the core files and may not have optimized code/functionality for your purposes. If there isn’t a module to solve your needs, you can create one for the rest of the community to use, or consider joining forces and helping the maintainer. You can also view a full index of modules listing only their titles. See the handbook page for help on installing modules.

Permissions Superuser

Tue, 2010-08-24 15:08
Overview

This module creates a 'superuser' role, and grants all permissions to that role. It also defines a new permission, 'administer software updates', which allows any user with the superuser role to run update.php without having to alter the $access_check (D5) or $update_free_access (D6) variables.

This module requires the Permissions API module.

Rationale

This module also disables the user 1 account. The security benefit is that this greatly reduces the attack surface for privilege escalation attacks on the user 1 account.

Maintainer

Developed and maintained by Erich Beyrent.

Status
  • Drupal 5
  • Drupal 6
  • Drupal 7
    • This functionality is native to Drupal 7, and there are no plans to port this module to that version.

Panels Three Four Layout

Mon, 2010-08-23 21:35

Panels Three Four Layout is a grid based, adaptive layout for Panels module. It's similar to flexible layout that you can find in Panels' core, with the exception that in adaptive layout final page is rendered based on how panes are connected to the panel grid. It means that panes automatically expand to the right to fully occupy empty cells in the grid. Thanks to this behaviour very flexible auto-constructed layouts are possible.

The grid consist of two stacked spaces, topmost space is 3x3 and bottom space is 4x4.

Requirements
  • CTools
  • Panels
Installation

Download, install and enable the module and look for new layout on Panels' creation or edit workflow.

Sanitizable (formatted text)

Sun, 2010-08-22 13:38

The Sanitize module allows administrators to configure a text format to be applied to formatted text before storage. This is useful to ensure clean and valid data in the database.

Configuring the sanitizable module
  1. Create/determine a text format to be used as a sanitizer before storage. Best practice is to create one or more separate text formats (named something like "Sanitized") that no user has access to.
  2. Add filters to the newly created text format.

    Although it is, when used properly, useful to sanitize text before it is stored into the database, please make sure the sanitize text format won't conflict with the text formats you want to be sanitized before storage. Best practice is that the sanitize text format only contains filters that correct invalid data (like the HTML corrector), remove obsolete data (like markup from word processors like OpenOffice and Microsoft Word) or remove data that is never going to be allowed.

    Useful filters are the core filters "Correct faulty and chopped off HTML" and "Limit allowed HTML tags" or filters from contributed modules like HTML Purifier and HTMLawed.

Google Custom Search Engine Advanced

Sat, 2010-08-21 08:02

Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) is an embedded search engine that can be used to search any set of one or more sites with an optional (and non-free) variant to use XML for searches. This module allows seamless integration with Drupal, same as core Search module provides or ApacheSolr does.

This module also exposes Google CSE filters as blocks, allowing easy filtering and uses custom hooks providing ability to change search requests before they are posted and alter filters on display.

You can use Google CSE Advanced, when:

  • You have a Google CSE account with XML capabilities and a CX (API) key
  • You need to seamlessly integrate Google Search into your site without any advertising

Google CSE Advanced is compatible with core Search module therefore all search results are themed using standard Drupal templates (search-results.tpl.php, etc.)

AD Gallery

Fri, 2010-08-20 15:18

Integration of AD Gallery (http://coffeescripter.com/code/ad-gallery/) and Drupal. You'll need the following modules to use this one:

- Imagefield
- Imagecache

Enable the module, add an image field to your selected node type making sure that your image field handles multiple values, meaning that you're able to upload multiple images for a node (Number of values). When done, go to the Display Settings tab and select AD Gallery for the display type. Your node should appear with the default gallery included.

The module is written with flexibility in mind, meaning that you're able to control the look and feel of your gallery and set up your preferred imagecache presets to use for the thumbnails and the main image. However, this means that you'll probably need to modify the attached CSS files here and there.

Adjust these to your settings:

The width of the whole gallery
.ad-gallery {
  width: 570px;
}

The main image wrapper
.ad-gallery .ad-image-wrapper {
    width: 100%;
    height: 300px;
    margin-bottom: 10px;
    position: relative;
    overflow: hidden;
}

The thumbnail area
.ad-gallery .ad-nav .ad-thumbs {
      overflow: hidden;
      width: 520px;
}
